Fig Media Project with La Rabida Children’s Hospital Receives Emmy Award Nomination.

Chicago, IL — September 14, 2025 – Fig Media, a Chicago-based creative studio specializing in nonprofit and mission-driven storytelling, is proud to announce that its recent project with La Rabida Children’s Hospital has been nominated for a Midwest Emmy® Award.

The nominated project is a heartfelt series of short films created to capture the spirit of La Rabida and celebrate the resilience of its patients, families, and community. Through a unique scripting approach and trauma-informed storytelling, the films highlight stories of hope, healing, and humanity. The Lion and The Lioness is nominated for a short form branded Emmy.

“Our goal from the very beginning was to create something that felt both whimsical and deeply human,” said Melissa Fox, Director of the project. “We wanted audiences to connect emotionally with the mission of La Rabida without relying on traditional talking-head interviews. By weaving the narrative like a children’s book and bringing the environment—like the lake—into the story as its own character, we helped people see and feel the magic of this community and infused our production with the same values as our client. Lexis and Layoni’s story is one that moved us deeply and we are honored that they trusted us to tell their story.”

The Emmy-nominated series was designed as an anchor for donor engagement, helping La Rabida inspire greater support for its mission. By blending cinematic visuals, authentic voices, and a trauma-informed lens, the films continue to resonate with audiences well beyond their original debut. The family in the film worked closely with film director Melissa Fox to tell their story.

“I am honored for Fig to receive this blessing of an Emmy® nomination,” said Brent Rolland, Producer of the project. “I appreciate the filmmaking process, especially the people I get to collaborate with. La Rabida is a wonderful partner and a beautiful place, and meaningful to me as a fellow Hyde Park resident. As a film producer, I’ve witnessed how powerful our storytelling is. I’m thrilled we get to share our work & be recognized among our industry peers.”

The Emmy® nomination reflects Fig Media’s growing reputation as a trusted partner for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations seeking to move hearts, minds, and resources through the power of film. We invite you to celebrate with us and wish us luck! Prayers up for a win.
