Where do I begin… I was born in Elkhart Indiana 1981. Shortly after I moved to Granger Indiana and there is where I spent most of youth. My youth in Indiana is where I attribute my talents and creativity too. If you have ever been to Northern Indiana you will find there really isn’t much to do. Flat, corn fields, Notre Dame, and Amish. So you find ways to make things fun. I would take art classes, play music, build things, take things apart and figure out how to put them back together (these skills will play big parts in my success so far). I had a group of 4 friends that we supported each other to be creative and create. I am a dreamer. I have this way of seeing things in my mind and creating it. It comes from having friends that pushed me to think outside of the box (plus I was really competitive with them). My youth is now filled with dreams of the adventures and how I wanted to be or what I wanted to do when I got older. I went to Indiana University of Bloomington to major in Physics but soon realized that’s not the life I wanted. I loved the technical stuff but I always told myself I never wanted to be stuck in a cubicle the rest of my life, which I felt would happen. I ended up majoring in Telecommunications loving the design and production side. I could be technical and work with my hands in different places. After college I went through a two month period what I call “Get me the F#@* out of here” phase. Then I found Fig Media. It was an email at 2am in the morning that would change my life. I got an internship at Fig. It took dedication to be there. I was living at home in Indiana driving to Chicago (2hrs) every other day and working at a Surgery Center to make a little money. I was living out of my car and let me tell you it wasn’t fun. This went on for 2 months. Then I was hired on to fig.
My title at fig is long. This is no joke. You could call me a renaissance man of a sort.
Wright Institute:
I run the Audio/Video Department at the Wright Institute. What I do is make media for marketing Bob and Judith Wright and helping them get their message of people know themselves and what the self can do across. I also help the students of the Wright Institute learn to their fullest by supplying media for them. I also run the trainings that the Wright Institute puts on mainly the One Decision. I have done a lot of work around this training. I have taken the systems of recording shoots and audio at the Wright Institute and have brought it to a bigger level to where I am directing a crew of camera people, audio and video technicians in front of hundreds of people.
Deejay:
I am a Resident Deejay. This came about with my pure love of music and knowledge of it. By deejaying events I have learned to read a crowd and coordinate, which helps me in many areas here at fig. I also get many opportunities to go in places around Chicago that people normally don’t see. I call that the inside of Chicago. There isn’t a better feeling then when I get people dancing.
Videographer:
I am also a Videographer and editor. In this I shoot weddings and liquid histories. With weddings I like to bring in my artistic side in the event to create a beautiful film for the bride and groom. I realize that these moments I capture will be with them for life, so the timeless element is key for me. I love the liquid histories because I like the realness and documentation of a person, couple, family or business. It’s getting to know what someone is like through others and themselves that I love. I find my passion of film make is in this process of liquid histories.
Photographer:
I am a photographer at fig too. What I love about photography is the moments. Capturing a moment and seeing it instantly is so pleasing. Photo has so many possibilities for me reaching my goals. What I feel about photography is that it is a way to train my eye to find the beautiful moments so when I do video I can put these still moment that I find beautiful in motion.
Art Director:
I am also the Art Director of fig. I got this title by winning a Telly Award for creative editing, the first award fig has received. I have a good creative eye and which has also helped me in this role. I feel as I write this that I have actually achieved a lot in the time I have been with fig and years ahead are filled with opportunities and dreams that are now realities.
