I was born and raised in a place I call "Chi-City" Chicago, Illinois. My parents are both from Nigeria and I had the opportunity to have two great visits at an early age. Around the same time I began to take an interest in storytelling due to an obsession with movies and comics. As a hobby, I would often draw my favorite heroes and villains which soon evolved into creating characters and stories of my own. I also began taking an interest in Filmmaking and would help my dad film our family trips. Even as a kid I took it very serious and would often try to get my shots to look as cool as the shots from my favorite movies.
Throughout high school and well into college I had only thought of these activities of mine as just hobbies. Around the end of my Junior year at Southern Illinois, I met some people who were studying filmmaking and my perceptions started to change. On my way to finishing my degree in Industrial Design I took various classes on film and loved them. I was immediately hooked and realized that I wanted to be a filmmaker. Once I graduated I continued learning about filmmaking and started writing my own screenplays. While looking for possible Film production and Media companies in Chicago I came across an ad about an internship program at Fig media. I visited the site, took a glance at the video section, and it was a wrap...I was sold.
Here at fig I’ve had experiences I’d had always wanted to have. Iam involved in Video production as well as DJ here at fig. I have always loved music and grew listening and dancing to various types of music such as Urban Hip Hop, Latin, 80's and 90's rap and pop hits, as well as music from Nigeria. I’ve played at many various venues across the city of Chicago. Some of my favorites were the Sears tower, Water tower place, Millenium Park, and Pazzo’s.. It’s sometimes surreal when I take a step back and say wow I’m a DJ at an event at the Sears Tower. It’s Priceless. I’ve also shot wedding video and corporate video. Shooting video and the Botanical Gardens was great because of all the variety of styles and moods that the space held. It’s been an awesome ride here at fig and I am eager and excited to keep on learning new skills and growing as I continue my adventure as an Artist.
