I first decided that I would write music for a living when I was 15 years old. I played a piano piece that I had written for a small group of my peers and after I had finished a girl walked up to me and said these words, “Your music makes me want to swim again.” It was in that moment that I realized that my music not only reached people on a purely visceral level, but a deeply emotional one as well. It was also at that point that I knew that I wanted to do just that for the rest of my life.
This desire led me to the world of film. There was just something so incredibly powerful about the marriage of music and visuals. I began honing my talents by recording improvised scores to my own films. Playing to the picture as it unfolded on the screen in front of me. I applied to only one school, the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and graduated, with honors, four years later with a bachelors degree in Film Scoring. After I finished my schooling I moved to the city of Chicago because I wanted to work with the talent that I knew was here, the mid-west artistic faction that has its own unique voice and style very different from its coastal counterparts.
If there is one imperative that I require of myself it is this: originality. I have never achieved anything in my life by following the crowded path and I continually strive to provide my unique voice on each and every project or piece that I work on. I am satisfied with nothing less than a work of art that is unlike any other.
I love great music, great films, great friends and the great outdoors.
Music is in my blood. For the last twenty years of my life I have been performing, writing and loving music and it is that passion that brought me to the world of deejaying. Deejaying for me is all about creating. Creating a space, a feel, a great night. It's about having fun and making an experience for people that they will never forget. It's about playing that perfect song you haven't heard in years or that gem you've never heard before. I love all kinds of music from MF Doom to Kate Bush but I specialize in indie rock, indie and old school hip hop, house and electronica. I'm the new kid on the block and I play like it. |
