I was born in Colorado Springs, CO in 1978. I spent 18 florid years there before heading off to college in Iowa. I attended Grinnell College and solidified my love for music there. I involved myself with just about every aspect of it history and ethnomusicology, recording studios and record labels, retail and merchandise, performance and composition, concert production and promotion, radio and sound engineering, and of course deejaying parties!
Several forces of nature brought me to Chicago after graduation. I had love affairs with Sears and with Bloodshot Records, but eventually answered a Reader ad for a DJ position at fig media, inc. in 2000. I have been with fig ever since and steadily building my career as a top-notch event producer. I am currently the Director of Special Events and Development.
To add to my arsenal of talents, I recently went to culinary school to enhance my (other) love of food and cooking. I have been getting life coaching at the Wright Institute for Lifelong Learning since 2002 where I learn a ton about myself in order to get more out of my life. I am heavily networked in my industry including being an ambassador with the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and sitting on several committees with the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association.I have worked everywhere Four Seasons, the Peninsula, the Drake, Sofitel, both W Hotels, Palmer House, Hilton Towers, the Hard Rock Hotel, the Fairmont, Sheraton Towers, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Swissotel, Omni, Allerton Crown Plaza, Hotel Allegro, Knickerbocker Hotel, Sutton Place, the Whitehall, Hotel Intercontinental, both Westins, Embassy Suites, the Radisson, Newberry Library, Catalyst Ranch, Garfield Park Conservatory, Columbus Park Refectory, Patrick Haley Mansion, South Shore Cultural Center, Chicago Cultural Center, Germania Place, Ballroom at 12 E. Erie, River East Art Center, Salvatore¹s, A New Leaf, Anita Dee I and II, Kanan Cruises, Tavern Club, Evanston Women¹s Club, Independence Grove, Lake Forest Academy, Chicago Historical Society, Chicago Fine Arts Exchange, Galleria Marchetti, West Loop Studios, Illuminating Company, Bar Louie, Marcello¹s, Spiaggia, Prairie Productions, Gleacher Center, the Glen Club, the Grove, Chevy Chase Country Club, Illinois Beach Resort, International Museum of Surgical Science, Lisle Arboretum, AON Building, Café Brauer, Maxim¹s, 410 Club, Mid-day Club, Society for the Arts, Wooden Gallery, Gallery 37, Chicago Athletic Association, University Club, Union League Club, Scoozi¹s, Brasserie Jo, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Chicago Marathon, the World¹s Largest Block Party at Old St. Pat¹s, Saddle and Cycle Club, Colby Barn, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Soldier Field, McCormick Place, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, the MCA, the HOB¹s Foundation Room and Back Porch Restaurant, the Motorola plant in Schaumberg, Rialto Theater in Joliet, Fulton's on the River, Park West, the HotHouse, the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Chicago¹s Union Station, Lake Geneva, Navy Pier¹s Grand Ballroom and Crystal Gardens, the Palmolive Building, the Sear¹s Tower, the Hancock Building, Kendall College, Northwestern University, on Michigan Avenue during lunch hour, and the L train while it was moving!
In other words, I am a professional and I expect to be treated as one. I have done a lot of parties for a lot of people. I consequently have a very big range of musical tastes and event knowledge, and it makes me a very versatile DJ/producer. Lately, I have become Fig¹s international DJ handling our multicultural clients and their events. I can move from blues to African to Latin to hip-hop to jazz to Asian to oldies to whatever. My clients are brides and grooms, CEOs and presidents, doctors and lawyers, kids and senior citizens, American and foreign, blue-collar and white-collar, and everything in between. You want me on your event because I bring strength and wisdom to the table. I know execution, sensitivity, customer service, leadership, adaptability, humor, and professionalism. My goal is to travel internationally producing life-transforming events that incorporate awesome food and music to touch the mind and spirit! I will lead in my community to entertain, to educate, and to inspire through creative media and well-executed expression. If you want to play, I invite you to my party!
