Starting his time with fig August 31st, 2006, Alvin completed the internship and has been a full-on team fig member since January of '07. Designer-jay is what you may call him now. As a deejay, he has fairly electic musical tastes, ranging from world music to house to hip hop - if he ever has a chance to play some ATCQ, its a good night. As a designer, his style and rooting has come a fine arts education, with classical artists providing the most inspiration.

• Ganhdi/Adhikari - working with Erik: Indian wedding at the Drake, almost 500 guests, intelligent lights flashing, I had the dancefloor going until 2AM playing everything from house to bhangra
• Crazy condo opening party in Lincoln Park - working with Erik again; started off with a lounge/club vibe which had heads bobbing which blossomed intoI 1,000 people dancing for 4 hours - my best performance as a DJ to date
• 2008 Anchorball - St Clement's fundraiser, huge success. fig films, did a paddle raise video which helped to raise over $250,000. I Djed the dancing and the afterparty, which was better than its ever been in a to-capactiy Drake Gold Coast room
• Any gig where I have gotten to play latin music - there is so much more freedom to just play good music and I know people will dance to it, I can really dig into my collection on these occasions
• Jalvonathan Blood III - gigs where I have teamed up with Jon Hood; these parties always get crazy
• Revilla/Kaplan - Jalvonathan Blood III + latin music = a perfect DJ storm. Peruvian bride, the groom native new yorker. Keeping everyone happy was a juggling affair, but i got in everything from John Mellacamp to Bob Sinclair to Oscar De Leon to keep the dancefloor grooving - I've never wanted an hour of overtime more!
• Chicago Committee gigs - this organization to increase the number of minority lawyers has great events, where I've got to do gigs ranging from 90's hip hop set, to salsa and merengue instruction classes, where I got from behind the decks and helped the instructor!

• Lester Lampert - A website done for Chicago Jeweler Lester Lampert, 4 generations of design and quality, done in flash. Clean and minimal, to best show off the jewelry. Features a fig film documenting the process of in-house jewelry creation that goes on there
• Astellas - The best pharma company you've never heard of. I worked on graphic reinforcement for the Astellas Pharma's newest HR recruiting video. I worked closely with Billy Rood and Melissa Martens to create a fun, hip piece.
• Glassquerade '08 - I created a gorgeous combination of a motion piece to run during the yearly fundraiser for lookingglass theatre, with a powerpoint to match the theme "Around the world"
• Night fever - the annual MPI awards gala. What was unique about this project was that it represented the first time fig design was responsible in the overall construction and look of the event. Created posters, powerpoint, awards booklet - see, the design was everywhere!
• elmina's kitchen - A project with Congo Street Theatre, for their fall production. I have always wanted to do theatre posters/art, so this was a dream opportunity for me
