the chicago committee by Megan Taylor
Last spring, Venu Gupta, executive director of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms, asked fig to create a documentary video of 20-year history of the Chicago Committee. As she told me their story, their statistics, and the mission of the organization, I became excited at the opportunity to share the Chicago Committee's rich history.
Through the course of the summer, fig's film crew scouted locations, interviewed
over 15 founding and current Committee members, shot b-roll, and collected historical documents for the final product. The people who comprise the Chicago Committee are truly exceptional individuals who stand up to make change, and as we shot interview after interview we realized what a rich story we had. Our interns then transcribed all of footage, and we spent the beginning of this fall editing and putting the story together.
The short film screened on November 9, 2007 at their 20th anniversary gala in
front of over 600 people. The video was a huge success in that it successfully
delivered the story, the truth, and the vision of the organization. I am definitely looking forward to working with Venu, Christina, and the fig team on further work with the Chicago Committee.
