madhatter's ball Written by Melissa Martens Video editor

Once upon a time, not too long ago, August twentieth two thousand and five to be exact, there was a ball. Not just any ball, The Mad Hatters Ball. Dressed in their best “mad hats” and eyes wide with anticipation, the guests arrive to support a charming theater: The Looking Glass Theater. There were performers on stilts, ladies gracefully twirling in the air, elegantly prepared meals, beautiful music, stunning video, and breathtaking decorations. All of the people of the city had spent months preparing for the event, especially the “figs” of Fig Media.

Using their knowledge of Music, DJ, and Video, the figgies created short video presentations showcasing the various restaurants and vendors donating their services for the ball and showcased their talents as DJ’s, filmmakers and artists. With much hard work, and plenty of love the Fig creative teams journeyed far and wide across the city, shooting short films on location and editing together a program for all the people at the ball to enjoy. And when the night of the ball finally came, they were overjoyed to share their work with the people of the city.

Many people came out to the event that night, including David Schimmer, Joey Slotnick, Billy Deck, The Mad Hatters Junior Board, and many many others (including the figgies!) to raise money for the theater. The night of the event was enchanting, filled with amazing food, fun-filled music, dancing and merriment. The figgies were greatful to be involved in such a lovely project, and anticipate the next ball with great enthusiasm.
