Rock the Adler 2006

Fig Media has participated in the Adler Planetarium/Food for Thought open house since 2001. Each year we increase our level of involvement; currently, we co-produce the entire event. The goal is always to outdo the last year by innovating new event concepts and services. Fig loves this opportunity to experiment creatively, to master our event skills, and to train our Fig team. This year was no different as we set out to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the planetarium for the 2006 open house. Also known as the diamond anniversary, this party’s thematic direction quickly evolved into rock 'n’ roll (diamond = rock = rock 'n’ roll). Thus, the open house became “Rock the Adler” and it embodied all the glitz and glam of the rock n’ roll lifestyle. We had flashy cars, sexy DJs, big sound systems, photo ops, guitar solos, dance frenzies, booze, music videos, spotlights, and everything else a rock 'n’ roll star needs!
Fig's services included:
Sound coordination: worked with Soundtronix to have great sound both in and out of the
planetarium; helped live band with their sound needs.

Soundtrack assistance: created three different rock mixes to serve multiple functions at the event – 1) to supply music when the band took a break 2) to create thematic moods as guests moved throughout the venue and 3) to supply a promotional takeaway for all attendees.

DJ services: two very sexy rock n’ roll DJs reading and responding to the crowd, and playing to two dance floors.

Stage management: facilitated the sequence of the show from live performances to keynote speeches.

IMAG: projected live images of the event so that guests could see the action magnified.

Digital Photography: captured candid shots of both the event and the behind-the-scenes to use during the show and afterwards for an online gallery.

Video mixing: projected and blended various visual images to create an intriguing backdrop to the DJs – live camera, digital stills, rock n’ roll movies, and logo reels.

Steadi-cam operator: captured flowing footage of the event – a moving and artistic documentary of the event.

Live camera operators: captured the action of the event live and in person.

Visual assistance: created two different looped DVDs to bring compelling video into the event – 1) logo reel with vendor commercials and 2) archived images of past Adler open houses.

Technical production: coordinated with Frost Lighting, Soundtronix, Rank Entertainment, Food for Thought, Adler Planetarium, Cort Furniture, and Halls Rentals to work out the kinks of creating an exclusive rock n’ roll club with lights, sound, décor, and entertainment.

Ideation: worked closely with Food for Thought to develop the theme, the sequence of events, the sponsorships, and the overall vision and strategy.
